June 2016 Full Moon Ritual – A Summer Solstice Full Moon!

Seasons, Moon Cycles and Celebrations

The full moon that falls on the 20th June 2016 is a very rare occurrence indeed. Not only does it find itself again rising in Sagittarius (the same as May), it happens to fall on the Summer Solstice. The last time the full moon fell on the Summer Solstice was 1948.

The Strawberry Moon of June comes with some contradictions this month due to the astrological movements also taking place. Traditionally, the full moon of June is a great time to be maintaining and enhancing the things that you already have. This is certainly supported by the sun entering into Cancer on Monday with an emphasis on family, home, comfort zones and security. However, today (Friday), Saturn turns a corner with Neptune and this meeting brings two very powerful energies into the mix for this full moon period. The assembly of these two planets works in two ways: firstly they have a tendency to weaken, dismantle or dissolve rational structures and/or the things that appear to have a strong hold over us. Secondly, form is given to evolving realities, potentials and consequences.

With this in mind, you may find yourself feeling a little unsettled. You could find that you are questioning your purpose or your circumstances and perhaps starting to let go of some of the overly rational thoughts that could be holding you back from your true potential. This really is a rather exciting time because whilst you may be feeling a little unsure, energies are supporting you in bringing to fruition those things that may have felt slightly out of reach or inaccessible to you.

Be aware of all the signs and synchronicities that are presented to you in the coming days as you are being called to stand up, be strong, shed what’s holding you back and go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Listen to what starts to stir inside of you during this time. Are you finding new or old passions being reignited? Allow yourself to flow with the stirrings of your heart and soul as these are trying to get your attention, to steer you in the right direction. Embrace the mantra ‘anything is possible’, because it really is. The lunar energy and planetary alignments are going to make sure of that!

We often share with you full moon rituals that are done on your own. As this full moon falls on the Summer Solstice, we urge you to get some friends together and enjoy this ritual whilst you wait for Sunrise!

Gather in a circle outside. Create an altar in the centre of your circle by asking each attendee to bring something that represents to them their dream life. Each one of us has a gift to share with the world even if we don’t yet realise what that might be. If you are unsure of what to bring, just bring what feels right to you, however obscure that may seem. You may also want to add other things to your altar such as candles or crystals. Fluorite is a great crystal to use here as it is associated with progress, growth and absorbing negative energies and stresses.

When you are all ready, spend some time in quiet meditation, relaxing all the muscles in the body and bringing your full awareness to the circle. Spend 5-10 minutes doing this. When you are relaxed and comfortable, each person in the circle should speak aloud to the group their vision for the future. However, this should be done with thanks and in the present tense, as if it has already happened. If for example, you feel that your true path lies in sharing knowledge with the world by writing a book, you may want to say ‘Thank you universe for your support in completing my book. I am grateful for the success I have achieved and I feel content and happy that I am on my true path’. When each person has finished, the whole group should say aloud ‘so mote it be’. Repeat until each person has had a turn. When you have finished, hold hands in the circle and give thanks to the moon for sharing her lunar energy with you.

At the end of the ritual, enjoy the rest of the Solstice evening! You may want to continue talking with your circle about your different plans for the month ahead. You should be feeling empowered and ready to move forward in the right direction. Enjoy the excitement and enjoy sharing in the excitement of others. This is a celebration of all that you are and all you are yet to become. So mote it be!
