July Full Moon Ritual – 19th July 2016

The full moon this month is known as The Buck Moon (because this is typically when male deer start to grow their antlers), The Meadow Moon or my personal favourite, The Blessing Moon.

In the last few days you may have experienced some surges in your creativity as both Venus and Mercury have entered into Leo. You are also able to see the creativity and potential in others so you may get the urge to go to a concert, the theatre or get involved in some good old arts and crafts with your nearest and dearest. Mercury in Leo boosts this creativity but it also comes with a feeling of needing to express yourself and your ideas – Leo is sure to boost your confidence and help you along the way with this!

Despite these new movements, there is no escaping that some of the big contradictions that have arose from the planetary alignments in recent months, may have left you feeling a little run down and out of sync with your own divine energy. It’s at these times when we may have experienced negativity creeping in, particularly around our view of ourselves, where we are going and some of the obstacles we may have been met with recently.

Don’t despair moon lovers! The full moon is the perfect time to release negative energies and even attempt again the things that have may failed in the past. This is another new start so spend this full moon period tapping into the wonder of your fabulous self. Re-charge, turn the focus onto yourself (you deserve it!), and celebrate all the amazing things that you are, rather than your perceived shortcomings. Your soul will thank you for it and it will set you up for an amazing month ahead of magical manifestations and happiness!

The new moon earlier this moon was in Cancer, bringing to the forefront a focus on our emotional well-being and relationships. The Full Moon in Capricorn is going to remind you to slow down, take a breath and recognise the importance of balancing your own energy. Whilst you may find new and exciting creative ideas illuminated during this cycle, this is not a time for full steam ahead action. Breathe in your inspiration and allow these ideas to take root in your subconscious whilst also preparing your spirit for the month ahead. The following ritual has been put together to help you do this.

As last month, I urge you to get out in the open air and experience this full moon in all its glory. Pick somewhere special to you, somewhere that you feel at peace with yourself and where you will not be distracted. If you work with crystals, Moonstone is a great ally for this as its gentle energy will bring you comfort and remind you of the importance of self-love.

You will need some small pieces of paper, or even better, post it notes! You may also want to create an altar, light a candle or do a brief meditation to get you in the right frame of mind for your experience. It is important that you spend some time, relaxing the body and the mind. Letting go of burdens, chaotic energy and negativity that have been holding you back.

When you feel peaceful and calm, welcome the energy of the full moon and give thanks for her ongoing support on your path. Now spend some time thinking about you. Picture yourself in your mind’s eye. Feel your inner spirit. If you find negative thoughts coming in about yourself, simply say ‘I trust in the perfection of my beautiful divine self, this thought/feeling does not serve me. I let it go’. Allow caring and compassionate thoughts to enter your mind toward yourself. What is truly great and unique about you? What are your strengths? Your Accomplishments? What are you proud of? As you ask these questions of yourself, write down on separate post it notes, words or phrases that come to mind. For example ‘I am kind to others’, ‘I am a wonderful cook’, ‘I am a dedicated mother/father’. Your aim here is to get at least 10 separate words/phrases that positively celebrate you (however, go for as many more as you like! If they keep coming, keep writing). As you do this, feel how your energy lifts as you recognise more and more how wonderful you truly are. When you have finished, thank the moon for her lunar energy and ask her to support your positive growth as the moon cycle this month progresses.

After the ritual, keep your pieces of paper/post It notes to hand. You will need to place these somewhere prominent in your home. Perhaps around a mirror, on a fridge, or even on the wall next to your bed. Keep them there for at least a week and read them aloud to yourself at least twice a day. As you continue to focus your energy on all the great things you have to offer the world, you will feel stronger, more confident and more in alignment with all the amazing things that you can manifest going forward.

In our busy, chaotic worlds it’s all too easy to lose sight of who we are and forget the importance of our connection to our inner selves. It is through this connection that everything begins. Our energy (the building blocks of creation) and our thoughts and emotions (the driving force behind our energy) are valuable tools in the dance of co-creation and manifestation. If we neglect ourselves we lose control of the tools which assist in the illumination of our wildest dreams. You are amazing, you’re an incredibly powerful creator. You’ve got this.
