Moldavite fell as a meteorite or comet impacting on Stuttgart, Germany. The impact was so colossal that the intense heat of the meteorite and speed intensified by gravity, transformed the surface rock around the site of impact and together this was strewn across the Czech Republic.  This is estimated to have happened approximately 14.8 million years ago. This is how geologists explain the glassy, dark green appearance of these stones. Nasa has reported that the tiny bubbles seen in the stone have been tested and come from outside our atmosphere.
